Tether and Rumble Launch Self-Custodial Crypto Wallet

KEY FACTS

  • Tether and Rumble launched Rumble Wallet, a self-custodial crypto wallet supporting Bitcoin, USDT, and Tether Gold for platform tipping and payments.
  • The wallet uses Tether's open-source Wallet Development Kit, enabling creators to receive instant payments without banks or intermediaries.
  • Tether also introduced Scudo, a new gold unit making Tether Gold transactions more practical as gold prices hit 2025 highs.

Tether and Rumble have launched Rumble Wallet, a self-custodial cryptocurrency wallet integrated directly into the video-sharing platform. The wallet allows creators and users to hold, transfer, and receive digital assets without relying on banks or payment processors.

At launch, Rumble Wallet supports Tether USD (USDT), Tether Gold (XAUT), and Bitcoin (BTC). Users can tip creators natively in crypto and make borderless payments. Tether USAT will become available in the coming weeks.

The wallet is powered by Tether’s Wallet Development Kit (WDK), an open-source toolkit designed for platforms to deploy secure, self-custodial wallets. This integration connects Rumble’s global video ecosystem directly to crypto-native payment rails.

Creators can now receive instant payments from audiences while maintaining full ownership of their funds. Users can hold and transfer digital assets peer-to-peer without centralized custodians.

Tether Partnership Vision Takes Shape

The collaboration between Tether and Rumble was first announced at the Plan ₿ Forum in Lugano last October. Both companies outlined a shared vision for crypto-native monetization that gives creators financial access without arbitrary shutdowns.

Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether, emphasized the product’s alignment with freedom and decentralization principles. He stated that Rumble Wallet will give tens of millions of users more control than any platform has offered before.

We are proud to continue to collaborate with Rumble and promote an open, decentralized internet and financial system

Ardoino said

He added that Bitcoin, USDT, Tether Gold, and soon Tether USAT will be available to Rumble’s user base.

Rumble founder and CEO Chris Pavlovski connected the wallet launch to the platform’s core identity. He described cryptocurrency and decentralized internet as representing freedom in the same way Rumble represents free speech.

We are putting more power into the hands of users and creators so they can engage with and financially support the content they like

Pavlovski said.

He called the development unique to Rumble.

The launch builds on Rumble’s earlier tipping functionality. The result is production-ready, platform-native financial infrastructure for the Rumble ecosystem.

Tether Expands Gold Payment Capabilities

Earlier the same day, Tether announced Scudo, a new unit of account for Tether Gold (XAU₮). Scudo defines one unit as one-thousandth of a troy ounce of gold.

The smaller denomination eliminates the need to work with complex decimal fractions when transacting in gold-backed digital assets. Pricing goods in fractions of an ounce typically requires unintuitive long decimal values.

The move addresses a key usability barrier that has prevented gold from functioning effectively as a medium of exchange. Scudo aims to restore gold as a practical payment method.

Gold prices reached historic highs in 2025 amid persistent inflation concerns and interest-rate uncertainty. Record central bank purchases and growing demand for safe-haven assets have driven the surge.

These market conditions have renewed interest in gold as a store of value. Tether’s dual announcements position the company to serve users seeking both stablecoin and gold-backed digital asset solutions.

The Rumble Wallet launch reinforces Tether’s broader strategy of building open financial infrastructure. The company aims to embed its technology directly into real-world platforms serving millions of users.

Both initiatives reduce reliance on centralized financial systems. They expand Tether’s presence across multiple digital asset categories while offering new tools for creator monetization and gold-based transactions.

Rumble trades on NASDAQ under the ticker RUM. The platform positions itself as a freedom-first technology company in the social media space.
