KEY FACTS
- YZi Labs invested in Funes, an AI-powered platform building an eternal digital museum to preserve humanity's architectural heritage through comprehensive 3D modeling
- Funes has digitized nearly 1,000 architectural models including temples, ruins, and landmarks, with plans to add 1,000+ structures annually using crowd-sourced photogrammetry
- The investment supports modeling expansion, online experience development, and AI integration with technologies like 3D Gaussian Splatting and Large Language Models
YZi Labs has invested in Funes, an AI-powered platform building a comprehensive digital archive of humanity’s architectural heritage. The venture supports Funes’ mission to preserve physical structures through detailed 3D modeling before deterioration erases them permanently.
The backing aligns with YZi Labs’ strategy of supporting projects combining cultural preservation, artificial intelligence, and Web3 infrastructure. Funes transforms real-world architectural data into permanent, accessible digital assets for future generations.
Funes employs crowd-sourced photogrammetry and computer vision technology to capture built environments in unprecedented detail. The platform operates as Wikipedia for physical memory, compiling a living archive of humanity’s constructed heritage.
Funes Building the World’s Largest Architectural Database
Funes has digitized nearly 1,000 architectural models including temples, ruins, monasteries, and modern landmarks. The platform plans to add over 1,000 new models annually, creating research-grade datasets for scholars, creators, and technologists.
Each model includes multimodal data such as text, imagery, and structural metadata. This expanding archive positions itself as the most comprehensive real-world 3D database ever assembled, with growing cultural and commercial value.
The newly raised capital will support three key operational areas. Modeling efforts will capture comprehensive 3D data of historic and modern architecture worldwide, expanding geographic and temporal coverage significantly.
Online experience development will create seamless, interactive platforms for exploring models and associated metadata. Users will access detailed architectural information through intuitive digital interfaces designed for research and educational purposes.
AI integration represents the third priority, merging real-world data with technologies including 3D Gaussian Splatting, Radiance Fields, and Large Language Models.

These integrations enable generative, research, and educational applications previously impossible with traditional preservation methods.
Hanyang Wang, Co-founder of Funes said,
Funes has already become the largest online database of real-world 3D architectural models,
The precision, scale, and dimensional richness of collected models will grow beyond direct viewing applications.
Wang noted the platform will establish foundations for future commercial applications, particularly those integrating with emerging LLM paradigms and computer vision technologies. The architectural data becomes increasingly valuable as AI capabilities advance.
YZi Labs Expands Into AI-Driven Heritage Projects
YZi Labs operates as the venture firm of Binance co-founder Changpeng Zhao, typically focusing on Web3 and blockchain infrastructure projects.
The backing follows YZi Labs’ recent $11 million seed round for VideoTutor, an AI-powered education platform converting student questions into personalized animated lessons. That investment marked the firm’s first major entry into AI software beyond traditional blockchain focus.
The VideoTutor round included participation from Baidu Ventures, Jinqiu Fund, a ByteDance affiliate, alongside Amino Capital and BridgeOne Capital. The platform attracted over 20,000 users since its soft launch earlier this year without significant marketing expenditure.
Prior to the Funes backing, YZi Labs have completed funding rounds for over 275 crypto projects, including Sui, Ethena, Aster Dex, Aptos, Pancakeswap and recently Better Payment Network (BPN) and SIGN.
